Caring for Your Glass Shower Enclosure
If you have a clear glass shower enclosure — like millions of homeowners worldwide — you know that water spots can be noticeable over time. The good news is that with a few simple preventative care habits, your enclosure will maintain its clarity and elegance for years to come.
Use only a soft microfiber cloth, wet sponge, or paper towel along with the recommended cleaning products listed on this page. Always follow a clean water rinse after using any product, and follow the manufacturer's printed instructions.
Squeegee use is always recommended after every shower. Squeegees are available for purchase in our Venice showroom.
Important Precautions
Never Use These
- Abrasive cleaners (Ajax, Comet) on glass or hardware
- Any cleaner containing Cerium Oxide
- Products containing ammonia
- Hydrofluoric Acid — corrosive to glass
- Phosphoric Acid — corrosive to glass
- Abrasive scrub brushes
- Razor blades or sharp objects
- Cleaning solutions on hinges, handles, or exposed silicone
Best Practices
- Use a soft microfiber cloth, sponge, or paper towel
- Rinse with clean water after every cleaning product

- Keep cleaning solutions away from hardware and silicone

Protective Glass Coatings
Untreated glass is porous and absorbs mineral deposits and soap scum over time — making it increasingly difficult to clean. A professional glass coating applied at installation can cut your cleaning time by up to 90% and protect your enclosure for years.
EnduroShield
An ultra-thin transparent glass coating that completely adheres to the surface, repelling both water and oil-based stains. Similar to a non-stick frying pan, cleaning requires only a mild detergent or white vinegar with a damp microfiber cloth.
EnduroShield repels soap scum, grime, and dirt — eliminating the need for harsh toxic cleaners and protecting your glass from mineral deposit absorption.
Diamon-Fusion®
A two-step process that creates a chemical reaction bonding to the glass, forming an ultra-thin, optically clear, durable protective layer. By filling in the microscopic peaks and valleys of the glass surface, water, soap scum, and contaminants wash off easily.
Diamon-Fusion is a permanently applied product backed by a limited lifetime warranty through Diamon-Fusion International.
Surface Protector
Seals the pores of glass to make the surface water, soil, and stain resistant. The clear coating guards against the adhesion and buildup of dirt, grime, mold, mildew, rust, and mineral deposits.

Treated vs. Untreated Glass
The difference between treated and untreated shower glass is dramatic over time. Untreated glass absorbs mineral deposits from water, shampoo, soaps, and body oils — causing discoloration and eventually irremovable staining.

Sprayway Foaming Glass Cleaner
A non-ammoniated foaming glass cleaner with effective cleaning agents that leave glass sparkling clean with a streak-free shine.
Windex (Non-Ammonia)
One of the proven ways to clean shower doors. Spray down the shower doors and wipe off with a soft cloth for a clear, streak-free finish.
Dawn Dish Soap & White Vinegar
Start with Dawn dish detergent to combat soap scum, then follow up with white vinegar diluted in water to dissolve mineral buildup.
Seventh Generation
A powerful, plant-based glass cleaner that cleans to a streak-free shine. Safe for glass, mirrors, and stainless steel surfaces.
Simple Green Lime Scale Remover
Spray on your shower door or apply with a damp sponge, then rinse immediately. Dissolves hard water mineral deposits and soap scum effectively.
Bio-Clean
The professional-grade solution for removing soap scum, hard water stains, calcium, mineral deposits, and grime. Recommended for deep cleaning where buildup is noticeable.
Soft Scrub Lemon
Soft Scrub Lemon Total Bath & Bowl Spray is recommended for thorough cleaning where a buildup of water spots, soap scum, or grime is noticeable.
Comet Cleanser
For the drip rail and other clear polycarbonate plastics only. Do not use on glass or hardware. Dissolves soap scum and hard water film from plastic surfaces.
Surface Protector
Spray on and polish off to seal the pores of glass against water, soil, and stain buildup. Ideal for use at time of installation to maintain a like-new appearance.
